Although, these test may require you to carry out more than one method to ascertain the possibility or the need of carrying out a backup test by a specialist in terms of being confused due to the reaction observed.

Also, these tests should be carried out only when notable signs of pregnancy are observed and require the use of your first urine when you get out of bed in the morning for accurate results. If you are not changed, you can keep your first urine in a corked contained at room temperature till when you are changed to carry out the test.

1.    Bar soap test – get a bar soap and put a small amount of urine on it and carefully see how it reacts. If you experience bubbles to an extent then it means you are pregnant but if there is no reaction then it is negative.

2.    Sugar test - all you need is to add some spoons of sugar to a bowl, add your urine or you can urinate directly on the sugar and see the reaction. What you will watch out for in this test is clumps of sugar, if the sugar forms clumps then it is positive but if it dissolves in your urine then it is negative.

3.    Pine sol test – this a standard household cleaning product which you can get at the grocery store. Just grab a bottle of this cleaning agent, pour some amount into a bowl and add your urine. All you need to watch out for in this test is a change in color. If there is a change in color then it is positive but if there is no reaction or change in color then it is negative.

4.    Drain-O test – is used at home to eliminate clogged drains, but it is advisable to always wear gloves when handling this product as it contains harmful chemicals that can be dangerous to your skin. Grab a bottle of this product and pour some amount into a disposable bowl and add your urine but you have to be very careful to avoid splashes. All you need to observe is the change in color. If after you add your urine a bluish green color is attained then it is positive but if there is no reaction then it is negative.

5.    Dandelion test – this is a common weed that can be found in your garden or parks. It is one of the oldest methods that were used by women centuries ago. All you need is to collect leaves grown under a shade which is not exposed to direct sunlight to get an accurate result, put the leaves into a bowl and add your urine. All you need to watch out for are signs of reddish blisters on the leaves after ten minutes of application, if these blisters are noticed then it are positive but if there is no reaction then it is negative.

6.    Toothpaste test – these come in different varieties and colors but the one needed to carry out this test is a plain white variety. Grab toothpaste, collect a small amount of it into a bowl and add your urine, if the toothpaste turns to a bluish tone or a light blue color or froth and foam it signifies you are pregnant but if no reaction is found then you are not pregnant.

7.    Vinegar test – all you need is to get a bottle of white vinegar, pour some amount into a bowl and add your urine. All you need is to observe the color reaction if the color changes then it is positive but if there is no change in color then it is negative.
8.    Bleach test – this is a household cleaning product that sits on your laundry shelf waiting patiently to be used to whiten clothes or remove stains. It can be used for pregnancy by adding some amount of bleach into a bowl and adding your urine to it.

     All you need to watch out for is the chemical reaction if it foams, hissing sound and frizzes it means positive but there is no reaction then it is negative. It is advisable to carry out this test outdoors to avoid harmful effect of noxious fumes in a confined space and always wear rubber or disposable gloves for safety reasons.

9.    Mustard powder – this test might be tricky as it works differently but might give accurate result to an extent, all you need is some amount of mustard powder in a bathtub with warm water and soak yourself in this water for 20 – 30 minutes, wait after 2 – 3 days for the reaction you will see, if you see your menstrual then it is negative but if you don’t then it is positive.

10.Vinegar and tuna juice test – all you need is to get a tuna and strain out the juice into a bowl, get a bottle of white vinegar and add equal amount as that of the tuna juice, mix and keep at room temperature overnight. The next morning add some fresh urine and see the reaction. If it turns dark green then it is positive but there is no reaction then it is negative.

11.Peroxide and Tylenol test – these two products are kept at home for emergency cases, all you need is a ¼ cup of peroxide and 2 tablets of Tylenol in a bowl and add ¼ cup of your urine to it. If it turns blue then it is positive but if there is no reaction then it is negative.


12.Self-urine test – all you need to do is to collect your urine in a bowl and leave it for 24 hours and observe what happens. If a thin white layer is observed at the top of your urine then it is positive but if you don’t notice any change then it is negative.
